Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the specialty responsible for performing surgical procedures within the oral cavity (teeth, mucosa, and surrounding tissues). These procedures are carried out at our clinic using top-quality dental equipment.

The most common surgical procedure is, without a doubt, the extraction of third molars — better known as wisdom teeth. Removal is recommended when there's infection, a cyst, or insufficient space in the jaw for other teeth.

Surgery is also performed when extra teeth appear, known as supernumerary teeth. Their presence can interfere with the eruption of normal teeth, making extraction necessary.

Is wisdom tooth extraction necessary?

The most important thing is to attend regular checkups so we can evaluate your oral condition. We'll perform a diagnosis through a dental exam and X-rays, both done right here at the clinic.

ORTHOGNATHIC SURGERY

Orthognathic surgery is a surgical procedure aimed at achieving proper function of the jaw-and-mouth complex — in other words, it corrects dento-craniomaxillofacial deformities.

In most cases, this type of surgery is performed on patients with dental malocclusion, but it's also used in cases of facial deformities — whether acquired as a result of facial trauma or present from birth, such as cleft lip and palate. The goal is to restore facial aesthetics for our patients.
